Article Submission Guidelines

Selecting a Topic

CIRE readers are interested in practical-application and business strategy articles on a variety of topics, including commercial real estate brokerage, investment, leasing, development, financing, property management, and technology. Articles are considered for publication in the print and Web edition, www.ciremagazine.com. Submit a detailed outline or brief abstract for consideration prior to submitting a manuscript. Submit article ideas to sdrummond@ccim.com.

Preparing the Manuscript

Submit articles in Microsoft Word format attached to an e-mail. Articles should be 1,000 to 1,500 words in length. When appropriate, include case studies, sidebars, or resource boxes to enhance the article. These additional items may appear in print with the article or online at www.ciremagazine.com.

Supply a brief professional biography, including present title, designations, place of employment, and expertise in the subject about which you are writing. Also send a color headshot as a JPG or TIF file.

Visuals

Include charts, graphs, or high-resolution (300 dpi) digital images, and illustrations when possible to emphasize and clarify points in your article.

Style

All manuscripts will be edited to meet CIRE's space requirements and general style. CIRE adheres to the Associated Press Stylebook, 2005 edition. Any promotional material will be removed from articles prior to publication.

The Review Process

CIRE's editorial review board, composed of commercial investment real estate professionals, reviews all articles. The board determines whether an article is appropriate for publication. If your manuscript is approved "with revisions," it may be returned with recommendations for more information or clarification.

Copyright

CIRE seeks original, unpublished material, and owns the copyright for all of its contents. Please inform the editor if your manuscript currently is scheduled for publication elsewhere. In addition, all authors must sign a publication agreement prior to being published in CIRE.

The Benefits of Writing

Share your knowledge and receive international recognition in your field by joining the ranks of well-respected CIRE authors. You will receive complimentary copies of the issue in which your article appears as well as a link to our digital edition. CIRE is distributed to more than 15,000 real estate professionals worldwide and offers its authors a unique opportunity to gain exposure with this audience.

In addition, article reprints are available at a reasonable cost and make excellent handouts to current and potential clients.
